HELLO,
I HAVE A SINGLE GROUP ASTRA MACHINE. I AM THINKING OF SWITCHING TO A TWO GROUP PROPANE MACHINE. HOW WELL DO THE PROPANE MACHINES KEEP UP? ARE THEY HARD TO KILL AND WHAT IS THEIR RECOVERY LIKE? THE REASON I AM THINKING OF SWITCHING IS THE SINGLE GROUP ASTRA IS NOT KEEPING UP! ANY INFORMATION YOU COULD PROVIDE WOULD BE GREAT!

THERE ARE A BUNCH OF ESPRESSO MACHINES OUT THERE. SO I ASK "WHY ASTORIA"?
Electroplated galvanized steel frames. Written warranties. Largest national sales and service network. Reasonable prices. Powerful heating elements. Great grinders. 2 group super automatics. Take you pick. |

COULD YOU RECOMMEND AN ESPRESSO BLEND (BRAND NAME OR SMALL BATCH)?
I have some favorites, both small batch and Italian name brand. Since both types of roasters use Astoria espresso machines, I don't think I would be the guy to talk with. Check out www.coffeereview.com. Pretty good information there. |

WHAT IS PREINFUSION? DOES IT MATTER?
Pre-infusion is moistening the espresso in the portafilter before the actual extraction. Most espresso experts agree that moistening the espresso brings out a better espresso texture and taste. The Divina models all have pre-infusion. The group heads on the Divina have a small channel of water that is emptied on the grounds before the extraction. |
